The Andis T-Outliner Trimmer is one of the most highly rates close-cutting trimmers for home and professional use. It’s primarily used for trimming necks, beards and edging around the hairline. Andis itself is a reputable company who have been making professional grade trimmers and shavers for almost a century putting themselves right at the top of the list of trimmers.

The Andis T-Outliner is stocked with a very fine and close-cutting blade which allows for a superior and close cut that is perfect for lining up hairlines but also for doing more advanced fades and design work. This product itself is generally used by professionals in barbers shops and hair salons but can obviously be used at home too, particularly for those people who just want to touch up their hairline or learn to shave their own hair.

With a thick and strong eight-foot cable this trimmer is perfectly designed for a professional environment, giving you the flexibility and ease to use in a large salon or at home. The motor within the T-Outliner runs efficiently and doesn’t overheat, meaning that it can be used extensively with multiple clients throughout the day without needing to take a break.

Weighing in at 11.2 ounces this isn’t the heaviest trimmer available but it certainly isn’t the lightest either. However, it’s about right for a professional grade trimmer and with that added weight you also get a thicker shell which means it’s far more durable than cheaper models. Andis understand that when you’re looking for commercial hair clippers you want them to last and you want them to perform without a second thought. That’s exactly what the Andis T-Outliner was designed for. Performance.

They really aren’t pretty… we can’t even discuss that. They are practical and they are designed to be a work tool - nothing more. But with that practically comes a vey reasonable price point making them a great entry-level pair of clippers for new barbers. That’s not to say that they don’t excel, they really are a great pair of clippers and even for more experienced barbers they are an excellent purchase.

One thing that you should consider is that you’re going to have to continue to oil these clippers regularly. That’s the nature of a professional pair of clippers they really do need to be maintained if you want them to work for more than a year. Many people keep just one pair for five or more years so they definitely offer durability.

A solid pair of clippers like this is hard to come by so it’s not surprising that the t outliner is so popular among barbers with over 2,000 reviews on Amazon . Given its low price and relatively high performance at this price point they really are the go-to tool.

The blades themselves are made of carbon-steel which ensure that they will last. While they can be used in both wet and dry conditions it is suggested that you use them in dry conditions for maximal performance. The housing of the trimmer is contoured and shaped perfectly for the hand something with surprisingly isn’t all that common for trimmers. Many of them are boxy and non-ergonomic making it uncomfortable for the barber to hold, that’s not the case at all for the T-Outliner.

When you open the box you’ll notice that there’s very little in there and that’s to say the least. There’s essentially no accessories and a travel case isn’t even included which is something that wouldn’t go amiss. It’s clear that this product was designed for the working barber and not for the at-home consumer, the style, performance and lack of accessories screams commercial and there’s nothing wrong with that. Just understand that this is a machine built for work, not for pleasure or travel.

While this isn’t a luxury trimmer or pair of hair clippers it certainly is a great entry level choice. It offers all-around performance that will last for years and years to come. If you have extra money laying around then you might consider going upmarket but if you’re looking for a functional and trust-worthy product without extra bells and whistles then this is a better fit for you. The Andis T-Outliner Trimmer is hard to beat. It’s an all-rounder and our most highly recommended trimmer for commercial and would-be barbers.
