Remington PG525 Body Groomer Review

The PG525 by Remington is an all-in-one lithium-ion powered body groomer and trimmer that is available at an extremely attractive price. Remington are known for creating products in the lower price bracket that shave as if they were double the price.

The Remington PG525 comes with a full attachment set; full-sized trimmer, foil shaver, detail trimmer, body trimmer and complete comb set. This complete set will allow you to comfortably shave from your head to toes.

As with most Remington products the blades are made from surgical-steel blades that are able to self-sharpen. This ensures that you’ll never have to worry about having sharp blades.

How is the Remington PG525 Designed?

The shaver itself is a long black rectangular shape, it has a sleek black plastic coating on and silver buttons. Remington always create great looking products. It’s slightly curved on the underside to allow for easier holding and greater control when shaving.

In the middle of the groomer you’ll find a large silver power button. At 6.5 inches it’s a bit larger than we’d prefer but not unmanageable.

At the tip of the PG525 is the silver set of blades. These can be used by themselves for an extremely close shave or with one of the many attachments to do more specialist tasks. Each of these attachments simply snaps onto the top of the trimmer blades to convert it to a different form.

What Attachments Do You Get?

You can use the detail trimmer for different tasks including; trimming you sideburns, shaving protruding ear hair and cleaning up your mustache. Similarly, the body hair trimmer can be used to shave your chest and torso hair.

The attachments themselves are made out of black and clear plastic, they look thicker and stronger than we would have expected which is a great sign and suggests they’ll last for a long time.

You’ll also have the freedom to customize your style with the 3 comb attachments. These will adjust the length at which hair is cut to give you more style options. All of the attachments that come with the Remington PG525 can be safely washed in water, all you need to do is rinse them under the faucet just as you will with the trimmer blades.

Is the Battery Strong or Not?

The PG525 is completely cordless which is lovely to see. It contains a powerful lithium-ion battery that can hold up to 70 minutes of shaving power, more than enough to shave your whole body 3 times over. Regardless of how little power you have left the PG525 will continue to operate at full capacity to ensure an even shave across your whole body.

When it does eventually run out of power you’ll be able to charge it up in 4 hours. This is far longer than we would have expected and one of the biggest drawbacks. Most facial shavers can charge to this amount in around 1 hour so 4 hours is disappointing.

However, it does have a quick charge function so that you can charge it more quickly to enough power for one full shave. This doesn’t quite make up for the fact that it takes so long for a complete charge.

Along with the attachments and the groomer you’ll get an attractive and useful stand where you can store all of your parts and also charge the groomer. This is a huge positive. It’s not an intricate stand but too many shavers and groomers don’t provide any stand at all and so we must give full-credit to Remington for providing one with the PG525.

Another small negative for some people is that this groomer isn’t waterproof. You can’t use it in the shower and it’s heavily recommended that you do not to use it with water at all. Most of us don’t use our groomers in the shower or sink anyways so for us it’s not an issue, but for those of you who do want a wet groomer you should look elsewhere.

The groomer weighs in at only 8 ounces and measures 1.5” x 1.1” x 6.3”. It’s relatively light but it is much longer than some competitors .

What is Everybody Else Saying About the Remington PG525?

Across the large majority of reviews that we read to write this post we’ve seen overwhelmingly positive responses. It’s our belief that the main benefit to this and all of Remington’s other products is that the value offered is far greater than the price that you have to pay.

The problem with many more expensive products is that they sometimes don’t provide a lot more value, but they do ask for a lot more money in exchange. The Remington PG525 has been able to please thousands of customers, it doesn't have any fancy features. It’s a basic body groomer that cuts hair easily and comfortably, it looks attractive and it comes at a competitive price. It’s hard to ask for much more.

In conclusion, if you’re on the search for a basic body groomer and are not willing to spend much more, then this is likely your best choice. If you value being able to use your groomer in the shower then you’re going to have to spend more money to get a waterproof groomer instead.
